Afternoon everyone,
I am sitting here wondering about the security of my job this afternoon giving the current situation. I'm in hospitality so we are facing a major disruption to our business. That thought has led me to an idea. It's times like these where as EA's we can really add value to our executives who are no doubt in crisis mode right now.
Let's start a discussion and get some idea's going which will not only keep us busy (and distracted!!) but also help the executives we support and each other through this difficult time. No idea is a bad idea, I'll start us off with just a few:
- look for areas to reduce cost, eg subscriptions, cancel newspapers etc
- check that all logins for every app / program are working remotely for your exec, in our company for e.g I've ensured all CCTV camera's at our venue's are operational on his mobile
- speak to your boss about scheduling regular situation update meetings, even if it's just 10 mins a day with his leadership team
Looking forward to seeing some idea's!
What a great idea!
- how about having a quiet word with our boss to say a simple ... "Hey thank you for all that you are doing to keep this business going at such a difficult time. I just want you to know that it is really appreciated." Sometimes it's the guys/gals at the top that don't get a thank you - but they are also feeling it and its a difficult time for them too.
- how about the CEO posting a quick update each day...or every couple of days on the intranet site to keep all staff up to date on how things are going and to lift spirits!

I'd like to add that it's important for us EAs to look out for ourselves too. After all, we are the ones making all these changes happen! Anyone got some tips to add for us as well? We are the EAs but also the mothers, wives, carers, drivers, cleaners, trainers, teachers...
- make health and fitness a priority - if we are okay, people around us will be okay
- stay calm
- stay positive
- smile (I went to the grocery store this morning - for fruit ok ;) - and every single person I saw was unhappy, frowning or shaking their head. I made sure that I smiled at every person I made eye contact with) Smiling is also infectious)
Great ideas. Thanks ladies.
